A simple question
"Does this school not have an app?" That simple question started Apptegy's journey and thousands of conversations with district leaders, revealing the challenges schools face in communicating their strengths and stories.
School communication was once straightforward: you printed announcements, placed them in folders, and sent them home with students. Parents got the message because schools controlled the process—simple, reliable, and effective.
Technology promised easier communication, but for most school leaders it only made it more complicated and left little time to share the many positive stories that can shape how parents and the community perceive the district and its schools. And with more technology came more expectations. Expectations from families who want updates on every communication channel, instantly. All of this left school leaders feeling overwhelmed and juggling websites, Facebook, X, Instagram, SMS, email, and more. The simplicity of notes sent home in backpacks was replaced by digital complexity without additional resources to help.
On top of complex communications, districts faced challenges with student enrollment and teacher recruitment. Districts needed a way to clearly communicate what they offer to families, their employee culture and leadership vision. In other words, to shape and communicate their district brand.

We started with strong school websites and native mobile apps to make outbound communication easy for school leaders and their entire teams. Apptegy then developed our two-way communications platform to make parent-teacher connections easier. After all, there's no partnership more powerful for student success than the one between a teacher and a child's family. Most recently, Apptegy has added inbound communication to the mix with a powerful AI chatbot that makes answering community questions and surfacing information gaps a breeze.
